Women's Care

Swine Flu: Our Physician Recommendations

Pregnant women are at increased risk for complications related to the flu. (Please also see the CDC's guide for pregnant women). Women's Care is taking steps to protect you from exposure to the H1N1 or "Swine Flu" virus. We are asking all patients and visitors to remain at home if experiencing symptoms of fever, cough, sore throat, body aches, headache, vomiting, diarrhea, chills or fatigue. Please call our office if you have symptoms or concerns about exposure. Our triage nursing staff will determine whether influenza testing or treatment is needed. Again, we ask that you do not arrive at our office if you are experiencing any flu-like symptoms.

Remember, the best way to prevent the spread of any illness is to:
  • Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. Throw the tissue in the trash after you use it.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after you cough or sneeze. Alcohol-based hand cleaners are also effective.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth. Germs spread this way.
  • Try to avoid close contact with sick people.
  • If you get sick with influenza, the CDC recommends that you stay home from work or school and limit contact with others to keep from infecting them.
