Pre-Treatment Preparation

  • Tanning of any sort is not permitted during the entire course of the treatment. High factor sunscreen (at least SPF 30) as well as protecting the area from sunlight should be enforced for a least one month after the treatment and throughout the treatment course.
  • Discontinue Botox and/or Dysport injections four months prior to treatment.
  • Discontinue use of any collagen/ fat injections or other methods of augmentation with injected bio-material in the treatment area six months prior to treatment.
  • Discontinue any irritant topical agents for 7 days prior to treatment (Retinoic Acid or vitamin A derivatives).
  • Discontinue use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDS, e.g., ibuprofen or aspirin-containing agents) one week before and one week after each treatment.
  • Arrive for treatment with clean skin. There should be no lotion, make-up, SPF, perfume, deodorant, powder, or bath/shower oil present on the skin in the area to be treated.
  • Shave any hair in the treatment area the day before if needed.

Treatment Protocol
  • Typically 1-3 treatments at 4-6 week intervals.
  • One maintenance treatment every 6 to 12 months according to individual response.

Post-Treatment Care
  • If needed cool the treated area immediately following treatment with cold (not frozen) packs.
  • Blistered or ulcerated skin is uncommon. It can be treated with a prescribed antibiotic ointment, aloe vera, or burn treatment cream.
  • Tiny crusts of less than 1mm will usually form from 24-72 hours post-treatment and may remain for up to two weeks. Refrain from touching or scratching, they should be allowed to shed off naturally.
  • During the first two days following treatment, care should be taken to prevent trauma to the treated site: avoid hot baths, massage, etc. The skin should be kept clean to prevent infection.
  • Moisturizers and post laser cream should be applied regularly following the procedure. Make up may be applied 12 hours after each treatment if desired, but should be discontinued if an adverse reaction occurs.
  • The patient should use high factor sunscreen (minimum SPF 30) and protect the treated area from sunlight for at least one month after the treatment. Tanning after treatment may cause hyper pigmentation.
  • A Matrix RF Post-Procedure kit is recommended and may be purchased at an additional fee.
