Prevent the Spread of Cold Viruses

- Wash your hands frequently, especially after shaking hands or touching anything dirty. Scrub with soap and hot water for at least 30 seconds
- Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when sneezing or coughing
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth, which may increase the chance of infection
- Stay home from work and school when you are sick
- Avoid sharing food, eating utensils, drinking glasses, pens and pencils, towels and other personal items
- Don’t reuse or share bottles of water
Medications That Are Safe To Take For Colds During Pregnancy
- Sore throat sprays or lozenges
- Dextromethorphan (Robitussin)
- Acetaminophen (Tylenol)
- Cough drops
- Pseudophedrine (Sudafed) – avoid using the first 14-weeks of pregnancy
- Mentholated rubs
- Vaporizers or saline nose drops/sprays
- Vitamin C
Call your doctor if you experience a severe headache unrelieved by Tylenol, persistent vomiting or diarrhea greater than 24 hours, or fever above 100.4 for greater than 24 hours.
