Instructions Before and After SOURCE

Instructions Before SOURCE

1. Please take HCG 10,000 units by injection at ___ p.m. To give HCG, draw up one cc of fluid from the fluid vial into the syringe (you may discard the rest of the fluid). Inject the fluid into the second HCG vial and shake to mix. Draw up the one cc from the second vial, change needles, and give the injection IM (intramuscular) into the buttocks (just as for Pergonal/Humegon injections).
2. Please stop all other medications (Pergonal, Humegon, Fertinex, etc.) after HCG instructions are given.
3. On the morning of the I.U.I. procedure, please collect the sperm sample as instructed and bring it in the sterile container to The Fertility Center lab at 8:30 a.m.
4. You may have intercourse on the night of the HCG injection if you wish, but we recommend abstaining for 36 hours before the sperm sample is obtained on the day of the I.U.I. procedure.

Instructions After SOURCE

1. Please start the Progesterone Vaginal Suppositories (one-half twice a day) on the morning after the I.U.I. procedure. It is very important to continue the Progesterone Suppositories twice a day until a menstrual period clearly begins (i.e. not just spotting), or you have had a negative serum pregnancy test, or until ten weeks of gestation if a pregnancy is confirmed.
2. Please keep your BBT temperature chart after the I.U.I. procedure so that we can detect any problems in the luteal phase for future cycles. You should call the office when your menstrual period begins or if it has not begun 16 days after the I.U.I. for a pregnancy test.
