Progesterone Support Instructions for ART Pregnancy
Standard IVF Cycle
- Continue Progesterone 50 mg IM (1 ml) injection each evening until first pregnancy test. Instructions will be given if pregnancy test is positive.
- Begin Progesterone vaginal capsules the day after embryo transfer, 100 mg per vagina, 3 times a day (every 8 hours) through the 12th week of pregnancy.
- At the beginning of the 13th week (________), decrease PVC to twice a day (morning and evening) for 4 days, then once daily at bedtime for 3 days, then stop.
Frozen Embryo Thaw and Transfer Cycle and
Egg Donation IVF Cycle
- Continue Progesterone injections (100 mg or as directed) once a day (p.m.) through the end of the 9th week of pregnancy (________).
- At the beginning of the 10th week (________), change to Progesterone Capsules (PVC) 100 mg per vagina three times a day (every 8 hours) through the end of the 12th week of pregnancy(________).
- At the beginning of the 13th week (________), decrease PVC to twice a day (morning and evening for 4 days, then once daily at bedtime for 3 days, then stop.
- Continue Estrace pills or Estradiol Valerate injections on the same schedule you have been on and stop at the same time as you stop Progesterone.
