Sexually Transmitted Diseases

Women’s Care obstetricians/gynecologists recommend testing for STDs for both partners before engaging in sexual activity. STD testing usually screens for chlamydia, gonorrhea, herpes, syphilis, hepatitis, and HIV. Testing can also be performed after encounters. Repeat testing is sometimes recommended, as it can take time for the test to become accurate after potential exposure.

Please ask your Women’s Care provider for testing if you feel you are at risk.

Examples of STDs include:

  • Gonorrhea
  • Chlamydia
  • Herpes Type 1 and 2
  • Syphilis
  • HIV
  • Genital Warts
  • Hepatitis
